Check acceptance or cashing, ACH payment authorization, bank-account and payment validation, fraud review, and other payment-risk decisions.
A declined check or ACH payment means the business used Certegy’s information or risk recommendation. The business made the acceptance decision; the Certegy file does not show that the business also used a nationwide credit report, ChexSystems, or Early Warning.
What may be in the report.
The actual fields depend on the product ordered and whether the company has information about you.
- Bank routing and account identifiers, account status, and check or ACH transaction history
- Returned, fraudulent, altered, or counterfeit payment information and fraud affidavits
- Merchant inquiries, identification details, transaction amount or check number, and Certegy’s recommendation
Request, freeze, or dispute the right file.
Use these direct paths instead of a paid credit-repair service or a phone number from an unsolicited message. A freeze at one company does not automatically freeze another report.

Official dispute pathFirst three steps.
Do not dispute accurate information just because it led to an unfavorable decision.
- 01 Keep the merchant receipt or decline reference and record the date, amount, check number, and payment method.
- 02 Use AskCertegy to look up the declined transaction and request the consumer file disclosure.
- 03 Dispute a specific inaccurate transaction, account identifier, or fraud record; otherwise ask the merchant what other payment it will accept.
Separate the reporting-company disclosure from the decision-maker’s action.
The company that supplied a report usually did not make the final decision. Use the notice decoder to choose the credit, banking, housing, employment, insurance, or utility context, then identify the report and next record to compare.
