Retail return, exchange, post-sale adjustment, and reshipment authorization under a retailer’s own policy and risk tolerance—not a creditworthiness decision.
A warning or denial means the retailer used The Retail Equation’s recommendation under its return policy. The retailer made the final transaction decision; the Retail Activity Report is not a nationwide credit report and the recommendation does not affect a credit score.
What may be in the report.
The actual fields depend on the product ordered and whether the company has information about you.
- The retailer, transaction date, store, item, amount, and whether a receipt was presented
- Purchases, returns, exchanges, adjustments, or reshipments linked by a payment method or government-issued ID number
- The retailer’s transaction decision and the linked history considered for that specific recommendation
Request, freeze, or dispute the right file.
Use these direct paths instead of a paid credit-repair service or a phone number from an unsolicited message. A freeze at one company does not automatically freeze another report.
Request your report
The current consumer portal allows a Retail Activity Report request for up to 60 days after the transaction. Use the Transaction ID printed on the warning or denial receipt.

The CFPB company list does not mark this company as offering a report freeze. Check the company page for any narrower state right, suppression option, or updated policy.

Review the Retail Activity Report first. The Retail Equation says concerns sent to it are passed to the relevant retailer, which supplied the transaction data.
Official dispute pathFirst three steps.
Do not dispute accurate information just because it led to an unfavorable decision.
- 01 Keep the warning or denial receipt, Transaction ID, store, date, item, and the retailer’s return policy.
- 02 Request the retailer-specific Retail Activity Report within the current 60-day portal window.
- 03 If a transaction is wrong, contact The Retail Equation and the retailer; if the history is accurate, ask the retailer about its policy or any reconsideration process.
Separate the reporting-company disclosure from the decision-maker’s action.
The company that supplied a report usually did not make the final decision. Use the notice decoder to choose the credit, banking, housing, employment, insurance, or utility context, then identify the report and next record to compare.
