When to use it
  • A credit report identifies the company that supplied an inaccurate account, balance, status, date, or payment history.
  • You can identify the exact item and the correction you want.
  • You want the furnisher to investigate and notify the credit reporting companies if it supplied incorrect information.
Before sending
  • Find the furnisher dispute address on your credit report or in the company’s official instructions.
  • Send a matching dispute to each credit bureau reporting the same error when appropriate.
  • Mark the disputed item on a copy of the report and organize supporting records.

  • Your name and mailing address
  • Furnisher name and dispute address
  • Account identifier as shown on the report
  • Specific error and requested correction
