Payday and installment lending, auto lending and leasing, rent-to-own financing, check-cashing, telecom account opening, and other alternative-finance credit decisions.
A notice naming Clarity Services means the lender used a Clarity report or score in its decision. Clarity did not approve or deny the application, and requesting an Experian nationwide report does not substitute for requesting the separate Clarity file.
What may be in the report.
The actual fields depend on the product ordered and whether the company has information about you.
- Identity and address information used to match the file
- Loans, lease-to-own accounts, balances, dates, status, and payment history supplied by data furnishers
- Clarity report inquiries, fraud or identity-verification indicators, and a Clarity score when requested
Request, freeze, or dispute the right file.
Use these direct paths instead of a paid credit-repair service or a phone number from an unsolicited message. A freeze at one company does not automatically freeze another report.
Request your report
Clarity offers its report through the consumer portal, by phone, or by mail; the CFPB also lists one free report every 12 months and a score on request.

The Clarity freeze applies to the separate Clarity file. It does not place a freeze at Experian’s nationwide bureau or at another specialty reporting company.

Official dispute pathFirst three steps.
Do not dispute accurate information just because it led to an unfavorable decision.
- 01 Request the Clarity report named in the notice rather than assuming an Experian nationwide report contains the same file.
- 02 Compare each lender or lease-to-own furnisher, account status, balance, date, payment history, and inquiry with your records.
- 03 Dispute a specific error with Clarity and with the company that supplied the information.
Separate the reporting-company disclosure from the decision-maker’s action.
The company that supplied a report usually did not make the final decision. Use the notice decoder to choose the credit, banking, housing, employment, insurance, or utility context, then identify the report and next record to compare.
